Remembering your New Zealand wedding

This entry is from our Expert Guest series where wedding and honeymoon professionals share their best tips on creating memories that last a lifetime.

Is a wedding videographer a must have? Honestly speaking, NO. Wedding Photography is a necessity, but the wedding videography is more like a luxury.

We have spoken to a lot of brides and when asked about their wedding day, they all say it was such a fast-paced day that most of it was like a big blur. And that is very true. It’s one day when all the months or years of planning are becoming a reality, and yes, brides, you do plan a lot.

What Will Wedding Videography Add?

There are some things you will surely miss during your wedding, like the groom waiting at the altar, entrance for your bridesmaid or the style they walked in, how did it feel like walking the aisle in your heavy wedding gown, those little pauses of emotions you took while reciting your wows.

With a beautiful cinematic video, you can see all these moments in action.

Don’t Reminisce But Relive

We started as wedding photographers and then picked up wedding videography on the way. We do understand the importance of both of them. Photographs will show that you were laughing while your makeup was getting done, but a video will tell you what your bridesmaid said that made you laugh. Videos will tell you why your husband choked on his drink during the best man’s speech, or what was in your father’s toast which made your mum and you cry. For sure, you don’t want to miss your grandmother’s cool moves on the dance floor.

Photos will make you reminisce all those beautiful moments, but a wedding video is like your own romantic movie which you can watch over and over again and relive every single moment.

The Back Story

Sometimes the photographs don’t share the real backstory which videos can.

During the free pre-booking consultation, we very often show our clients a photo of bride and groom standing at the altar from one of the weddings we were part of in New Zealand . The photo shows the bride been very emotional with a tear rolling down her cheek, and every person we showed that photo to said that she is emotional as she has just seen her would-be husband for the first time on the wedding day. And they are all correct, as that’s what the photos show but there was more at play.

The Real Back story: a minute before this photo was taken, she walked the aisle with a photo of her father who passed away a year ago. She always wanted her father to walk her down the aisle on her big day, and that was the real reason for her tears.

Make Your Future Family A Part Of Your Wedding

Imagine your children or even your grandchildren enjoying your wedding day unfold in front of them years after your wedding. They can live those moments the way you did. They can now be a part of the wedding, hear your wows, laugh at the funny jokes, and enjoy the good or the bad dance moves. Wedding films are a treasure not just for you but for your family to come.

Have A Tight Budget?

Fitting everything in your budget is a tricky mission. If you have to fit either a photographer or a videographer, then we would suggest you go with a photographer as that is a necessity. But if there is one chance to move things around to fit both, then the best way to create lifetime memories would be to hire a company who does both Wedding Photography as well as Videography. The average cost of getting a separate photographer and a videographer as two different vendors could be 40% more expensive as hiring a team who does both. They are already at your wedding to take the photos and would not cost them much to add an extra shooter for the videos. For an example, our team members can shoot both photo and videos with the same artistic ability so if we are shooting photos it’s a lot financially feasible for us to add another team member for videos as we are already there.

Don’t let budget be the deciding factor for you to have your precious moments saved for the years to come.
